Gardaland Resort Cup - Verona, Italy
The Gardaland Cup tournament lies ahead for this sixth edition (in 2022) on the playing fields near Lake Garda, one of Northern Italy’s top tourist destinations.
Many teams from all over Italy and northern Europe take part every year in this major international event, which is played in fields around the Lake and in the vicinity of Verona, such as Peschiera, Bussolengo, Sommacampagna and Villafranca.
The matches are played over the course of three days, 16th, 17th and 18th of April with referees arriving a day before, on Friday 15th. The tournament is divided into multiple age categories, both 7 and 11-a-side, up to the U19s.
By attending this tournament, included in the participation fee, you’ll receive:
– Referee Abroad Membership;
– Accommodation for the entire tournament in Residence-style lodging;
– Full board across the weekend;
– Transport to and from games;
Referees will referee 3 to 4 games per day, with shortened halves.
All referees will be accommodated in a local hotel in the vicinity of the fields. While the name of the hotel is not yet confirmed, it will be a good category hotel. Referees will share the room with another referee, maximum two which means double or triple occupancy.
Referees will be served breakfast in the hotel and all other meals either in the hotel or on the fields.
Lake Garda in Northern Italy is a popular holiday destination among Europeans.
Lake Garda is the biggest lake in Italy, located in between the Dolomites mountains. Famous for its turquoise water and beautiful nature. Historical villages and castles like Sirmione. And a unique climate, where you can have four seasons in one day. Renowned for its winds that make the lake a perfect place for sailing, wind- and kitesurfing.
Peschiera is the town where the tournament will played. There, you can find welcoming beaches and the typical Italian old town with charming historical alleys and cafés on the small harbour.
Gardaland, from which the tournament takes its name, is Italy’s biggest amusement park. Another must visit when in the area.
Peschiera and Desenzano are the only two cities on Lake Garda directly reachable by train and they are consequently well connected with Milan and Venice. For example, the journey from Peschiera to Milan lasts around an hour and a half. The train station is only a couple of minutes on foot from the old town centre.
The closest airport is however Verona International Airport (VRN) with flights to many destinations throughout Europe. Milan Bergamo or Venice are also valid choices to travel to Lake Garda.
